Bommarito, Brown, Austin among this week's signings
5/14 - Three top 40 recruits signed this
week led by the 18th and 25th ranked
recruits in the state, Jeremy
Bommarito of Hartland and Deven
Brown of Carleton Airport.  Bommarito
signed with North Idaho while Brown will
be staying close to home at Eastern
Michigan. Bommarito and Brown won
the Division 1 and  2 state titles this
year at 145lbs, respectively, and are slated be facing off at the MWA Classic next month.  Division 1 state runner up Jeremiah Austin of Westland John Glenn also recently signed with Michigan State University.  Muskegon Community College and coach Ron Gaffner have been busy on the recruiting scene as well as they received over a dozen commitments for next year.  Go to recruiting central to see all the commitments.

Border Wars offering many summer events...
Since Border Wars Wrestling began their series in the Spring of 2003, wrestling in the off season months has exploded in Michigan and across the Midwest states.  This has been a blessing to those wrestlers who seek and love the taste of competition.  The wrestlers who have taken advantage of these opportunities have since flourished into some of Michigan's elite prep wrestlers.

Michigan preps earn top national rankings
Dubose tops InterMat's final All-Class Rankings
5/10 - InterMat released their final All-Class national rankings this week, which include the top 20 preps in the country across all 4 grade levels (9-12).  11 total Michigan wrestlers made the rankings, including Marcel Dubose who landed the top spot at 215lbs.  Lowell sophomore Jackson Morse and Rockford junior Kyle Waldo were the only Michigan underclassmen in the rankings.  Click more to view the full rankings.

Michigan colleges make academic Top 30
5/10 -The NCWA released their National All-Academic Team today as well as the top 30 academic programs in the country.  All four of Michigan's Division I College wrestling programs made the list with Eastern Michigan leading the way in 22nd with a 2.934 team GPA.  MSU camp in 23rd, followed by CMU in 25th and Michigan in 30th.  Click more to view Michigan's members of the All-Academic team.

Pettengill picks Meramac
5/7 - One of the nation's top uncommited senior recruits went off the board today as Kearsley state champ Travis Pettengill has commited to Meramac. Petengill, who was a senior national runner up and ranks as Michigan's #5 recruit for this year, picked Meramac over North Idaho and Iowa Central.  Goto the recruiting central to see all the recruiting news.

Michigan's Top 100 seniors ranked...
5/7 - Michigan Grappler's list of top seniors has been released!  Not to much surprise, national champions Ben Bennett and Marcel Dubose topped the list.  The senior class rankings also serve as the final revised recruiting rankings for 2007-08.  Next year's top recruits will be coming later this summer.  Click more to view the full senior class rankings.

Morse, Bohn, Wildmo among freestyle state champs
5/6 - The Michigan USA Wrestling hosted the Freestlye/Greco State Finals last weekend in Battle Creek and some of Michigan's top prep grapplers were in attendance. Among those winning double titles in Freestyle and Greco Roman were high school state champs Jackson Morse of Lowell and Roger Wildmo of Durand, as well as greco all-american Jake Bohn of East Kentwood.  In one of the more notable matchups of the weekend, Wildmo (pictured) beat D2 state champ Tyler Kesselring of Greenville in both styles.  Click more for full recap and results.

EMU nabs Eggert  loses Jackson
It was a bitter sweet week for Eastern Michigan as they added Dundee state champ Chris Eggert, but lost South Haven 2xer Kamron Jackson who had commited to EMU in the fall.  Jackson recomitted to North Idaho.

Rickard picks App State; Bohn G-Mason
Senior National All-American Bryan Rickard signed to wrestle for Appalachian State in North Carolina.  Greco all-american and D1 state runner up Jake Bohn signed to wrestle for George Mason University.
