Michigan Juniors 3rd at Freestyle Duals
6/30 - The freestyle portion of the Junior Duals wrapped up last weekend
in Oklahoma City, OK and Team Michigan finished with a solid 6-1 record,
good for 3rd.
Michigan downed Minnesota in the Consolation Finals and finished with
their lone loss to eventual runners-up Iowa. Four Michigan wrestlers
finished unbeaten on the Freestyle portion of the tournament, including
Adam Coon (285) and Camden Bertucci (100) who were also undefeated
in Greco-Roman action earlier in the week. Coon finished with a 13-0
record and did not lose a period in any match of either style.
Jacob Schmitt (126) and Jordan Wohlfert (170) were the other two perfect
records in freestyle. Schmitt went 5-0 bouncing back and forth from 126
to 132 with a couple of big wins including one over returning Junior All-
American Brian Crutchmer of Oklahoma. Wohlfert, meanwhile, was
spotless as he did not surrender a single period in freestyle action
including a 3-0, 1-1 win over nationally ranked Zeb Wahle of Iowa.
Impressive 1-loss records were put in by Mitch Rogaliner (6-1 at 113),
Alec Mooradian (5-1 at 145), and Kyle Hill (5-1 at 132). There were a ton
of big individual wins on the week as the Junior Duals were as loaded as
ever, below is a sampling of some of the big name wins turned in by
