Michigan falls to Illinois in Junior Greco Duals Finals

6/29 - Michigan's strong freestyle & greco summer continued this week as the

Michigan Junior National Team finished National Runners-Up at the Greco-

Roman Junior Duals in Oklahoma City, OK.

Michigan won their first 5 matches before falling 32-26 to returning champs

Illinois in the finals.

Two Michigan wrestlers finished with perfect 6-0 records to make the all-

tournament team. Team Michigan started and ended every dual on a high note

as their lightest wrestler, Grand Haven freshman Camden Bertucci (100lbs) and

their biggest, Fowlerville junior Adam Coon (285lbs) were spotless through the

Greco-Roman competetion.

Bertucci, a Division 1 State Runner Up this year, scored a big win over Jbari

Moody of Illinois, who was a Cadet Greco National Runner-Up last year in Fargo.

Coon, a 2x Greco-Roman National Champion, was dominant with every match

ending in 2 periods or less and not surrendering a point on the tournament.

Coon scored a couple of big wins - a pin over returning Cadet Double Champ

Sam Stoll (MN), a shutout win over returning Junior Double All-American Josh

Marchock (IL),

A few other notable one-loss performances on the Michigan A Team included 2x State Champs Mitch Rogaliner (4-1 at 113/120) and Jacob Schmitt (4-1 at 126/132). Standout performances on Michigan's 2nd team (Michigan Red) included Kyle Hill of Oxford and Jordan Amine of Brighton who each went 5-1, as well as Charles Sovel going 6-1 at 195.
