One top-ten Michigan grappler has made his college decision, while the MSU Spartans picked up a nationally ranked 170 lber on Thursday.
Colton McKiernan of Richmond announced his intentions to wrestled for Coach Jeremy Spates at SIU-Edwardsville next year. McKiernan was 2nd in the D3 state tournament last year and placed both years before that as well. He added a Flonationals All-American honor to his credit in April, finishing 5th.
McKiernan joins his brother Jake, who is currently the heavyweight for the Cougars. Listed as the #9 overall recruit in Michigan, he projects as a 197/285 at the next level.
The MSU Spartans went out of state to nab their second commitment of the week. Nate Jimenez of Marmion Academy in Illinois verbally committed to Coach Chandler. Currently ranked #12 at 170 lbs by Flowrestling.com, Jimenez placed 2nd in the state as a junior and 3rd as a sophomore. He was also a Cadet Freestyle All-American.
Jimenez projects at 165/174 for the Spartans and joins Macomb Dakota's Layne Malczewski who committed earlier in the week.
