Michigan was well represented at the 20th Dave Schultz Memorial International over the weekend.  In-state products Jon Reader and Julia Salata came away with titles, while former U of M star, and now assistant coach, Kellen Russell was also a champ.

Reader, now coaching for South Dakota State, had dropped to the new weight class of 79 kg from the old weight class of 86 kg.  The change proved to be a favorable one as he scored three straight tech falls en route to his championship.  In the finals, he knocked off past NCAA Champ Matt Brown 10-0 in just over one minute.

Canton grad Julia Salata was equally as dominant in the women's division at 68 kg.  Salata won both of her matches 10-0 and claimed her first Schultz title.

Russell picked up a tech fall in the quarterfinals before picking up a narrow 2-1 decision in the semis over Jason Chamberlain, who finished 3rd in the weight.  In the finals, the Wolverine coach dominated Mario Mason to the tune of a 12-2 tech fall.

Another Michigander found success at 57 kg.  Tim Lambert, a state champion for Forest Hills Eastern, finished in 2nd place.  Lambert won 12-8 over a Korean opponent first round and then dominated in the semis with a tech fall.  His run ended in the finals where he lost to Samat Nadyrbek Ulu of Kyrgyzstan, 12-2.
