The annual Eastern Michigan Open takes place Saturday morning in Ypsilanti as the Eagles host a quality field. Ten nationally ranked wrestlers will be competing as well as an abundance of Division 1 starters and highly-touted redshirts.
#18 Edinboro sees their first tournament action of the season after sweeping a pair of dual meets to open the year. The Fighting Scots have six wrestlers ranked in various national polls that will be competing. Coach Tim Flynn's team are always one of the tops in the nation and it appears this year will be no different.
#23 Navy used to be a mainstay at the EMU Open and return after a few years off. Last week they swept four duals versus non-D1 opponents so this will be the first test for the Midshipmen. They're bringing nearly the whole starting lineup and will be one of the top teams to watch.
It appears that a handful of starters from Central Michigan, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Pittsburgh are also entered to deepen the field.
Host Eastern Michigan will have the non-starters and redshirts in action as the starters rest up for the Keystone Classic next weekend.
The event kicks off at 9 a.m. and is held at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. Come and check out some great wrestling!
