They came from different sides of the state, but middle school standouts Cameron Litaker and Rollie Denker had similar starts to their season last weekend at the NUWAY Christmas Sparty Weekend in Lansing.
Litaker, who hails from Berrien Springs and wrestles for the Michigan West WC, won the 15U 80lb title on Saturday at the Sparty Individual Tournament, then followed with a 6-0 showing at the 15U Duals on Sunday, helping the Great Lakes White squad to the team championship.
Denker was competing for Maniax on Sunday, the team that Litaker's GLW team beat in the finals, but had the same kind of individual performance. The Bedford 8th grader won the 115lb title on Saturday and was 6-0 on Sunday in the 15U duals.
Both Denker and Litaker are returning MYWAY State Runners-Up looking to get over the hump this year, and they are off to a great start.
They have also propelled themselves to the forefront of the MI Grappler Fab 50 Standings for the 15U division. The Fab 50 tracks tournament points throughout the year and highlights MI's top youth wrestlers during the season and at the end of the year. Post-season "Fab 50" honors and "Wrestler of The Year" honors are determined by the Fab 50 Standings. Click here for details on the Fab 50.
