District 1-1 (Bay City Western)
Toughest weight: 171 lbs
#2 Jay Nivison, Davison
#8 Seth Dominguez, Grand Blanc
#9 Sam Hine, Midland
#10 Trevor McGowan, Davison
HM Sam Martin, Midland Dow
Notes: 5 deep with four spots.  Most have wrestled each other, with Dominguez splitting with Martin but winning the SVL and Hine/McGowan/Martin finishing 2-3-4.  There's a chance Nivison is down to 160 but with Facundo there, it doesn't make a ton of sense.

District 2-1 (Clarkston)
Toughest weight: 119 lbs
#5 Jack Thompson, Oxford
#6 Ashton Anderson, Clarkston
#7 Blake Noonan, Stoney Creek
#8 Matthew Curtis, Oxford
Notes: Thompson had a breakout tourney at Oakland County with wins over both Anderson and Noonan; Anderson by 2 and Noonan in OT.  Returning all-stater Curtis has spent the majority of the year at 125, and even though this region is deep at 119 it doesn't get much easier up a weight.

District 3-1 (Grand Haven)
Toughest weight: 215 lbs
#3 Joshua Hill, Mona Shores
#7 Kyle Scott, Hudsonville
#8 Zac Masiewicz, Traverse City West
Notes: Three ranked inside the top-eight.  Hill was 4th in the state last year while Scott and Masiewicz were Regional Qualifiers but both having great seasons.  Hill beat Masiewicz 10-8 earlier in the year, but that's the only head-to-head between the three thus far.

District 4-1 (Jackson)
Toughest weight: 103 lbs
#6 Quaylon Newton, Brighton
#10 Zach Phifer, Howell
HM Gabe Livingston, Battle Creek Lakeview
HM Aiden Smith, Brighton
HM Zac Platte, Holt
Notes: Should be a really good weight here with one odd man out.  Seeding should be easy as well - Newton beat Phifer, Phifer beat Livingston and Livingston beat both Smith and Platte.  All should be in the hunt for the podium so a high placement in the districts will set them on the right path moving forward.

District 5-1 (Westland John Glenn)
Toughest weight: 103 lbs
#7 Alex Biundo, Wyandotte Roosevelt
#8 Adrian Rosas, Southgate Anderson
#9 Marcello Luna, Woodhaven
HM Josh Mars, Westland John Glenn
Notes: Another good group of lightweights, with a ton of familiarity.  Biundo and Rosas split, Rosas and Luna split, Biundo beat Luna, and Mars beat Biundo but lost to Luna.  Lightly put, it's anyone's weight to win.

District 6-1 (Novi)
Toughest weight: 140 lbs
#1 Derek Gilcher, Detroit CC
#2 Marc Shaeffer, Detroit CC
HM Scott Hampton, North Farmington
Notes: Gilcher-Shaeffer will be a rematch of last year's quarterfinals when Shaeffer was at Davison; Gilcher won that bout 3-1.  Hampton, a returning state qualifier, is also having a great year with just one loss to date.

District 7-1 (Birmingham Groves)
Toughest weight: 160 lbs
#3 Tanner Culver, Hartland
#5 Reece Potter, Hartland
HM Earle Weaver, Royal Oak
Notes: Another pair of teammates in Culver and Potter, who both were all-staters in 2018.  Potter has a limited body of work but is undefeated.  All five of Culver's losses are to wrestlers ranked 1 or 2.  Weaver has just two losses on the season and is definitely talented enough to win this weight as well.

District 8-1 (Macomb Dakota)
Toughest weight: 125 lbs
#5 Justin Tiburcio, Macomb Dakota
#7 Al Biland, Anchor Bay
HM Michael Hazelton, L'Anse Creuse
Notes: Solid weight here with three ranked guys.  Tiburcio is the clear-cut favorite having beaten Todaro three times already this season.  Todaro beat Hazelton 12-1 in their only meeting.  Returning state qualifier Ryan Lee of Chippewa Valley and Dakota's Brad Weiand should also contend to make it through.
