Over a dozen former Michigan preps competed at the National Junior College Athletic Association Championships last weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Both Henry Ford and Muskegon came away with All-Americans from their program.
Henry Ford's Dominic Mancina became the first All-American in program history, by placing 7th at 174 pounds. He was one of five Hawks who qualified for the nationals, and helped propel them to a Top-25 finish.
Corey Perkins made the podium for Muskegon, finishing eighth at 184. The Chicago native led the way for seven other Jayhawks in the tournament, most notably Tyler Blagg who was a match from placing at 174. Muskegon finished 31st overall.
St. Clair County CC had one qualifier in '18 state champ Jackson Schenk, formerly of Mayville, at 285. The freshman turned in a 2-2 record in his first trip to the national tournament.
