CC Weber has done it all this year. Since the end of the 2008 High School season Weber has won a Fila Cadet National Championship, Pan-Am Championship, and now a Junior Women's Freestyle National Title in Fargo.
Weber won a close three period match with Joey Miller of Oklahoma. After splitting the first two periods Weber and Martin went scoreless throughout the third and went to the coin flip. Weber won the flip and she took advantage of it as she quickly transitioned from the leg clinch to a double leg for the takedown and the win.
"I knew it would be a tough match, Joey Miller is a big name," said Weber, "I knew I would win but I didn't think it was going to be that close."
Weber is now a 2x Women's Junior National Champion after winning the title two summers ago. Last year she finished 3rd at 109lbs. To hear CC's post match interview, click here.
Six other Michigan women earned all-american honors by placing top 8 in their respective weights. Haley Slavinski finished 4th at 153lbs after starting the tournament out 3-0. Stephanie Tucker picked up a first period fall over fellow Michigander Shannon Carter at 165lbs in the 5th place match. Cindy Kaffenberger and Nikki Nejtes both finished 6th, respectively, at 132 and 139lbs and Jennifer Spitza finished 8th at 146lbs.
The Junior Women will be in action tomorrow for the Junior Women National Team Duals.
