It was a big day for the Cadet Freestyle contingent as four Michiganders advanced to the finals - tied for the most by any state. Freshmen Braeden Davis (88) and Caden Horwath (100) earned spots, as did Manny Rojas and Stoney Buell who will face off in the 152 lb final.
Josh Barr will wrestle for 3rd at 138 after putting together a strong tournament, going 6-1 and dropping a tight 10-6 decision in the semis. Michigan sits in 6th place overall for Cadet Freestyle.
The Cadet Women's portion wrapped up with three All-Americans. Kayley Rada finished 2nd at 144 lbs, Kailyn Garrett was 5th at 180 lbs, and Alicia Pieper placed 8th at 132 lbs.
Men's Junior Freestyle had a tough opening day, as none of the Michigan entries are still alive on the championship side. Eight remain on the backside, all of whom need at least three wins to place. They include Matthew Hakken, Chayse LaJoie, Sam Freeman, Eddie Homrock, TJ Daugherty, Derek Gilcher, Donovan King, and Blake Querio.
Junior Freestyle gets going at 10:00 am EST today, and the Cadet Freestyle Finals will start at 3:00 pm EST. All the action can be watched on Flowrestling.
