College Week 6 Recap

University of Michigan

Michigan had the weekend off after their 3rd place finish at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite last weekend. However, the Wolverines did send a group to compete at the Cleveland State Open. The biggest news for the Wolverines was the return of Logan Massa. Massa, who will now fill in at 174lbs in his final year of eligibility, went 5-0 including one fall, two techs, and a major decision on his way to a 1st place finish. Other placers for Michigan included Drew Mattin (1st at 133lbs), Pat Nolan (1st at 141lbs), Chance Lamer (8th at 149lbs), Joe Walker (4th at 174lbs), Bobby Striggow (6th at 197lbs), Dzhabrail Khurshidov (8th at 285lbs), and Mason Parris (1st at 285lbs). Michigan State University

The Spartans traveled to North Carolina to take on Gardner-Webb over the weekend. MSU won 6 of 10 weight classes to improve to 3-0 in duals on the year. Rayvon Foley (133), Chase Saldate (157), Layne Malczewski (184), and Brad Wilton (285) led the way with bonus point wins for the Spartans. MSU will be back in action next weekend against D3 schools Baldwin Wallace and Olivet.

Central Michigan University

Central Michigan sent 25 wrestlers to compete at the Cleveland State Open, with 15 placing and 5 reaching the finals. Corbyn Munson was the highlight of the day for the Chippewas, going 5-0, including 3 bonus points wins, to take 1st at 149lbs.
