16U National Duals Freestyle Results

This past weekend, the 16U Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Duals took place in Loves Park, Illinois. Team Michigan brought two teams and had a solid performance across the board. 

Team Michigan Blue

Team Michigan Blue started out in Pool A with a first round bye. They went on to lose a close one to Kansas Blue (42-34) in the second round.

After another bye on the back side, they rattled off three wins in a row over Virginia (54-21), Indiana Gold (39-33), and New Jersey (39-34).

After a loss to Illinois (49-19), Team Michigan Blue got put in the Bronze/Copper Pool. They won their opening dual against Georgia Blue (46-29), but fell in the second round to Colorado (41-34), and had another loss on the back side against Minnesota Blue (48-25). This knocked them into the 5th place dual where they defeated Missouri Blue (51-22). 

Team Michigan Blue ended with a record of 5-4 and a 5th place finish in the Bronze/Copper Pool.

Team Michigan Red

Team Michigan Red started out in Pool C with a first round bye. They went on to lose their opening dual to Idaho (63-16). After another bye on the backside, they lost to Pennsylvania Red (58-21). They went on to win their next dual over Kansas (45-27). 

Team Michigan Red then went to the Green/Yellow Pool. They started out with two wins, the first over Texas Blue (45-31) and the second over Louisiana (51-14). They went on to take a loss against Oklahoma Red (49-31), but ended their tournament with a win over Nebraska (35-30). 

Team Michigan Red ended with a record of 4-3, and finished in 3rd place in the Green/Yellow Pool.
