Sunday will bring Day 2 of the Olympic Trials in Iowa City with a strong contingent of Michigan wrestlers looking to break through with an Olympic berth.

The freestyle division features a trio of Michiganders, one graduate from Michigan college, one former Michigan prep standout, and one current Michigan collegiate.

Former Davison 3x State Champ Jon Reader who was an NCAA Champ for Iowa State and currently coaches at South Dakota State is among the top contenders at 86kg.  Reader, who has been a mainstay on the US senior level ladder for this entire Olympic cycle, is the #6 ranked guy in his wide open weight class.

Former CMU All-American and Caro State Champ Wynn Michalak is a top contender as well, at 97kg.  Michalak is very dangerous and capable of making a run, but like all other weights in the freestyle division, will have his hands full with an impressive ensemble of contenders.

Current UM true freshman and former 3x state champ from St Johns Logan Massa is one of the new faces on the 74kg scene, but comes in ranked and seeded in the weight and will look to prove himself.

On the Greco scene, the 130kg weight class is the one to watch for Michigan wrestling fans with 4 athletes with Michigan ties competing.  UM 2x All-American Adam Coon, a former 4x State Champ from Fowlerville HS, is one of the top contenders in the weight class.

Also competing in the 130kg Greco weight class is veteran Matt Lamb, a former Michigan State standout, as well as Brighton native Jack Griggs and Sanford Meridian native Eric Fader.

Michigan's Best Bet on Sunday:
Adam Coon - Coon has thrived at all levels in Greco, from youth to high school to Cadet and Junior world competition.  He will have some stiff competition, but he is definitely capable of grinding through this bracket and is Michigan's best to make an Olympic Team on Sunday.
