Schmitt won the Most Falls award at the GFC, pinning his way through.
Jacob Schmitt was extremely good throughout his career, winning 3 state titles and consistently placing in Fargo every summer. His senior year he was at his best, absolutely crushing everything that stood in his way. He pinned and teched his way through the state tournament to win the D2 130lb title and also pinned through the GFC. He was also a FILA Junior Freestyle All-American the summer before his senior year. Unfortunately his college career was cut short due to injuries, so some may have forgotten just how good Schmitty was, but he was definitely one of the top grapplers we've covered in Michigan the last 10 years.
Watch the video below of Schmitt knocking off Rob Deutsch of New Jersey in the 2012 FILA Juniors. Deutsch has been a 3x NCAA Qualifier at Rider.
Rendina was back-to-back Dream Team member at 130 and his senior year was pretty amazing. He not only went unbeaten during the season en route to a D3 state title, but also placed 6th at Super 32 and was a NHSCA Senior National All-American.
Bade's junior year was where he confirmed his status among the state's best pound for pound wrestlers. He was 50-1 during the season with his only loss coming out-of-state to nationally top ranked Dean Heil of St Edwards OH. He was 2nd at the GFC losing a tight one to nationally ranked Jack Hathaway of IA in the finals and he was a FloNational All-American.
