EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State wrestling team will feature a freshman each week in order to “Meet the Spartans” leading up to the 2016-17 season.
This week freshman Jwan Britton (Muskegon, Mich./Whitehall High School) sat down with msuspartans.com to answer some questions.
Why did you choose to wrestle at Michigan State?
So I can compete at the highest level of wrestling. I have always wanted to be the best, so I need to wrestle the best competition. I have always been a Michigan State fan.
What are you most excited about as you begin your Spartan wrestling career?
Becoming more of a family through hard work. Having each others’ back no matter what. Fighting for your boys everyday through thick and thin. Bleeding and aching without any complaints because you know your peers are doing the same. I am just excited to be a family not just a team.
When did you first start wrestling?
Favorite wrestling memory?
In 7th grade I “Bulldog faced” my middle school coach, Rick Champion.
What’s your major at Michigan State and why?
Pre-Medical, I have always wanted to be a Doctor.
Who has taught you the most about wrestling growing up?
My high school wrestling coaches, Cliff Sandee, Jason Johnson and Craig Christenson.
What superhero power would you have if you could choose one?
I would want to be super strong and explosive, so I can join the Blast Double Crew.
