Way Too Early 2018 Rankings - Team

By MI Grappler, 05/15/17, 6:00PM EDT

We're a little over 6 months until practices kick off.  So we figured why not take a stab at which teams could be the contenders next season.

Are these a good indicator of some of the top teams? Yes.  Are they official rankings? Not exactly.  Let us know who you think is too high or too low, or who we might have missed altogether in the comments below.

And as is always the case, MIG is in no way "disrespecting," "sleeping on," "showing bias," "intentionally leaving out," or whichever terms get thrown around in the comment section on a weekly basis.  Let's just have some fun with it.

1.  Detroit Catholic Central
2.  Davison
3.  Macomb Dakota
4.  Oxford
5.  Hartland
6.  Brighton
7.  Westland John Glenn
8.  Walled Lake Central
Notes:  Expect the top three teams to be the finals contenders. #4-8 plus several other very good teams make for a deep field across the board.

1.  Lowell
2.  Warren Woods Tower
3.  Gaylord
4.  Goodrich
5.  St. Johns
6.  New Boston Huron
7.  Stevensville Lakeshore
8.  Tecumseh
Notes: Pretty balanced division.  We could see several new squads in Kalamazoo.  Red Arrows still the favorite, and have a great problem in having too many quality guys to fit them all into the lineup.

1.  Dundee
2.  Richmond
3.  Chippewa Hills
4.  Whitehall
5.  Birch Run
6.  Lakewood
7.  Mt. Morris
8.  Algonac
Notes:  Usual suspects atop the list.  Chip Hills and Whitehall also return strong lineups.  Will be many teams vying for the other four spots.

1.  Hudson
2.  New Lothrop
3.  Pine River
4.  Carson City-Crystal
5.  Clinton
6.  Manchester
7.  Mendon
8.  Addison
Notes:  Hard to picture anyone but Hudson or New Lothrop at the top.  Pine River will contend as well.  Should be a competitive division all year long.
