A back-and-forth affair saw Pine River take eight of the 14 bouts in the dual.  At 171, Malachi Holmes erased a 5-0 deficit to come back and win 7-6.  Tyler Signor won in the ultimate tiebreaker at 130, picking up a reversal and near fall in the final five seconds to win a big swing match.

New Lothrop jumped out to an incredible 30-0 lead thanks to three pins in the first six matches.  One of those came via upset as Allan Jamick reversed a headlock from #2 Daniel Smith and won by fall. All in all, the Hornets won ten matches and eliminated Carson City in round one for the second straight year.
