Davison's Alex Facundo received his draw for the Cadet World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. Competition for 71 kg begins tomorrow morning and will continue through the semi-finals on the first day, with the finals being wrestled the following day.
Facundo is paired up with Korbus of Poland in the Round of 16. Should he win that, he would take on the winner of Nazaryan of Armenia and Kurylenko of Ukraine in the Quarters.
As is always the case with the international repechage system, a wrestler must advance to the semifinals to guarantee a medal match. Should a loss come before the semis, the wrestler to whom you lose has to make the finals to pull you back into the wrestlebacks.
Facundo will look to become the fourth wrestler from Michigan to medal at the Cadet Freestyle World Championships and join Adam Coon (1st, 2011), Pat DeGain (2nd, 1998), and Mike Murdoch (2nd, 1983).
Action kicks off tomorrow morning at 4:30 a.m. and the action can be followed live on TrackWrestling.com.
